Adventure Camp is lead by a wonderful staff. The final staff is still being determined, but on average, we have one staff member per 3-4 campers. 2027 Adventure Camp will be lead by Noam Levenson. You can get to know Noam here.

Adventure Camp is perfect for teens who love the outdoors, love hiking and adventure, and work well with others as a team.

Teens must be between the ages of 12-16 years old (rising 6th to 11th graders) to participate.

Teens trek together in smaller, more intimate groups and then join together with other campers for Shabbat together.

We offer both a 1 or 2 week option for Adventure Camp. We highly recommend you choose the two-week option unless there are extrenuating circumstances.

We find that, especially after a full week of adventuring, the group becomes incredibly close, and week 2 is often the highlight of the trip for both the teens and staff.

Adventure Camp is very appropriate for teenagers 12-16 who have hiking experience. Generally, the maximum daily miles we'll be hiking is 8 miles, but with plenty of time and breaks.

As long as your teen is in decent physical shape and enjoys hiking, they should be fine!

AMC Mohican Outdoor Center – Delaware Water Gap, NJ

Adventure Camp 2025 will be hosted at the AMC Mohican Outdoor Center, about 1.5 hours from NYC and 4.5 hours from DC.

Mohican is a beautiful historic outdoor center with cabins, green spaces, picnic areas, nearby trails, and a scenic and swimmable glacial lake. It sits in the 70,000-acre Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, making it a wonderful headquarters for our camp, where kids can swim, shower, rest, and prepare for the next round of adventure. Shabbats will be spent in cabins with bunks, showers, and a full kitchen. The first two days of Adventure Camp (Sunday and Monday) will be spent camping at the Mohican Center.

AMC Mohican Outdoor Center is about a 1.5-hour drive from NYC and roughly a 4.5–5-hour drive from Washington, DC, depending on traffic.

We recommend your teen fly into either JFK, LaGuardia, or Newark International Airport.

Exact arrival instructions and carpool details will be shared after signup.

Day 1 | Sunday, July 25: 2pm

We will meet at the Mohican Center by 2:00 PM.

We will get to know each other, set up camp, and begin preparing to set out on our backpacking adventure.

Day 2 - 5 | Monday - Thursday | July 26-29

We will spend week one canoeing and backpacking, spending each night finding our own campsite, lighting fires, swimming, telling stories and cooking our own food.

Generally, hiking days will be between 5-8 miles.

Day 6 - 8 | Friday - Sunday | July 30 - Aug 1

We will arrive back to the AMC Mohican Center where we will swim, shower, get a new food supply, prep for Shabbat together, bake Challah, and celebrate Shabbat.

We will be sleeping in bunk beds and sharing a beautiful cabin.

Sunday, we will prepare again to set out on our next adventure.

Day 9 - 12 | Monday - Thursday | Aug 2 - 5

Week 2 will include backpacking and an awesome day of outdoor backpacking together.

Day 13 - 15 | Friday - Sunday | Aug 6 - 8

We return to AMC Mohican Center for another beautiful Shabbat together, ending our time together.

Pickup is 12:00pm from AMC Mohican on Sunda, Aug. 8th.

All our food is kosher and tasty! We generally don't eat meat on the trip to keep kashruit more simple, providing a delicious vegetarian/fish menu.

We cook our food together on the trail and get to indulge in special Shabbat food once we return to basecamp.

We take this time with our campers to explore together what a living, engaging, integrated Judaism looks like.

Backpacking offers a unique chance to do this as we navigate the wilderness it provides ample opportunitity for engaging group conversations as well as a chance to put Judaism into practice as we keep kosher, prep for Shabbat together, and start every day off with prayer time that caters to everyone's comfort level whether they want to meditate, pray, or just spend quiet time alone.

We aim to help teens explore their own relationship to Judaism, using it as a guidebook for living authentic, meaningful, honest, and respectful lives.

We welcome families of all levels of Jewish observance. Our trips are structured to ensure that participants who observe Shabbat and kashrut can do so comfortably.

Our food meets the kosher standards laid out by the Chicago Rabbinical Counsel (CRC) and the teens and staff prepare for and celebrate Shabbat together.

Lech-Lecha provides:

• All tents

Participants should bring:

• Walking shoes

• Sleeping bag

• Sleeping mat

• 60+ L backpacking backpack with a proper hip band for support

• Swim suit and towel

• Books, games, and things for Shabbat

• Personal items, toiletries

• Proper backpacking clothing
